How can Mantras induce positive energyJohn McGrath Healer?

Mantra is a traditional technique that helps one to gain control over the mind, purify it, and cultivate with undivided attention, and eventually have God-vision. John McGrath Healer says this technique consists of chanting a holy name or simply a prayer for something good repetitively for a prolonged period of time. Mantras are particularly prevalent in the Oriental culture where we see Buddhists, Sadhus and even families chant mantras religiously.

Mantras can be done in three ways:

  • Chanting loudly
  • Whispering – The chanters hear their own mantras but people around him/her only see a slight movement of lips and tongue.
  • Silent chanting – Mantras are chanted mentally without creating sound.

While every method of chanting somehow elevates the spirit of the chanter, the silent chanting is considered the most superior.  Why silent chanting? In the first place it requires more attention and control in the mind for a prolonged period of time. Healer John McGrath says it is evident that practitioners who do silent chanting are more capable of controlling their mind than other ways of chanting. In Hinduism as well as Christian tradition spiritual living is encouraged. Mental mantras are not obvious to onlookers but inside of you, you are aware that you are doing your practice.

How do Mantras purify the mind?

The mind is like a white cloth which takes the color in which is soaked. No person is bad or good; it is your thoughts that make the difference. If you cultivate good thoughts, you will soon experience a positive energy around you and everything around you will be put in the right place. A Mantra is a holy word or a positive energy in the form of sound, and when you perform certain holy sounds continuously in your mind for a prolonged period, it will take the color of that energy imbibed in that sound.
